The Travel Agent Online Training Program will teach you all you need to know to start a travel career. You will learn about the airline industry, ground transportation, hotels and resorts, cruises, tours, international and domestic travel, reservations and pricing, specialty travel, and more.  

This online program consists of three modules. You will first participate in a travel career development program, which will teach you the basics of the travel industry, followed by a second module in which you will study geography for leisure travel professionals, focusing on destinations all over the world that you are most likely to recommend and sell to your clients. In the final module you will choose the GDS computer reservation system you wish to study. We will help you to select the proper GDS system to best achieve your career goals. (FAQs)



Training is 5-weeks long meeting once a week for two-hours virtually + self-paced lessons. Training hours are flexible to accommodate schedules. The agent certification is $360, with no additional monthly or administrative fees — no minimum sales requirements or work hours.

FAQs

Who is eligible for the training? Anyone. But, we give priority to active duty spouses, veterans, wounded warriors, and dependents.  

Are you an accredited agency and training provider? Yes. We are a travel agency and career development company accredited through ARC. Our accreditation number is ARC# 09728003.  

How do I earn money? There are two paths an agent can choose to make money. First, we provide portable home-based opportunities allowing a commission-based business. Second, we offer a job pledge to place agents with travel companies to be virtual agents.  

How much can I make as a leisure home-based agent? Earning is based on the amount of sales and commission rate offered by the supplier. On average, suppliers pay 10% -16% commission on the total cost of the travel. Agents keep 70% of this amount. Motivated agents can make between $1500-$3500 per month. (training will include how to market your business).  

Can I collect commissions on my travel? Yes. You are paid 100% commissions for all personal travel, which in most cases covers the fee for the training :)  

Can I register for programs if stationed internationally? Yes, because MTA programs are online, you will do all your training virtual. MTA is always looking for agents living abroad to work our late shift hours.  

How long does it take to complete a program? All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start them when you want and finish them at your own pace. Upon registering, you're given six (6) months to complete this program. You are required to attend a 2-hour onboarding session during the first week, followed by ten additional hours of live-virtual training over the six months. You will schedule with your instructor based on your availability.  

What if I don't have enough time to complete my program within the time frame provided? The time allotted to complete your program has been calculated based on the number of hours for each program, so don't worry too much about not completing in time. If, after a concerted effort, you are still unable to complete, your Student Advisor will help you work out a suitable completion date.  

Do I have to buy additional materials? All the materials and platform credentials are included in the one-time program fee. There are no other costs.  

Do I need a business license or insurance? MTA provides all licenses and insurance requirements as long as you are working with our agency. Agents that reach yearly sales of $250,000 are recommended to purchase their insurance, which is usually $25-$30 per month.  

What happens when I complete the program? Upon successful completion of the program, is awarded a certificate of completion. You will be considered an accredited travel agent under our agency. All agents are awarded their ARC Travel Agent Accreditation, making them eligible for discounts and travel perks.  

Am I guaranteed a job? This course will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We do have a job pledge: Part/Fulltime & On-Demand Job placement based on availability. However, you will be awarded a 'travel agent' status after week one and can start booking travel for your home business. (and collect fees and commissions).  

Who will be my instructor? Each student is paired up with a facilitator for one-on-one and group interaction. The facilitator will be available (via e-mail) to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our facilitators are successful working professionals in the fields in which they teach.  

What software or hardware do I need to take online programs, and what are the system requirements? To take our online programs, you must have access to a computer and the Internet. You can access the program contents from any Web-enabled computer. You don't have to use the same computer to log-in to the program every time. We recommend that you have a word-processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.  

Can I use a Mac? Yes, you can use a Mac for this program, but if hired, the agency will generally provide a secure laptop (PC).
